New and Advanced Ostomy Care and Management Products to Make Lives Easy and Enjoyable
An ostomy product is a disposable medical device that provides a
way for the collection of fecal material from an ostomy surgical canal and the
generation of a stoma from the fecal material. These medical devices are most
commonly used in the treatment of colostomies, lies, and colonic perforations.
Mostly ostomy bag is created by using polyethylene or polypropylene waste bags.
Before an ostomy bag is placed, a surgical canal must be
completely blocked with waste. Once this is achieved, it is important to remove
any fecal material from the canal.
In the United States polyethylene pouch is the most commonly used ostomy bag. This
type of bag is made up of polyethylene and is typically sewn into a straight
tube shape which is inserted into the body cavity of the patient.
Another type of ostomy pouches that is commonly used is the
plastic bag. This ostomy bag is created out of the same material as the pouch
and consists of two pieces of plastic. The plastic bag is sewn into a straight
tube shape which is inserted into the abdominal cavity. When this plastic bag
is created it must be disposed of as soon as possible in order to avoid
contamination.
In the case of the polyethylene pouch, it is important to use
sterile needles when removing the ostomy bag and sewing it into the abdominal
cavity. This is done in order to prevent infection. Once the pouch has been
placed in the body cavity, the surgical needle must be used to remove the pouch
from the body cavity. The surgeon needs to make sure that the pouch is
completely removed from the body cavity before stitching it in the abdominal
cavity. This can be done by means of a small incision.
Various key vendors are introducing advanced and innovative ostomy
care products in the U.S. For instance, recently Coloplast Corp has launched SenSura
Mio Baby and SenSura Mio Kids in SenSura Mio Family. These products are
designed specifically for kids and babies undergone ostomy surgeries.
Moreover, in the U.K research teams are working on projects to
produce ‘designer’ stoma bags, which propel the clinical pouch into the realms
of fashion
