The rise in prevalence of Peptic Ulcer and progression of the geriatric population is anticipated to promote the demand for peptic ulcer drugs

Peptic ulcer drugs are medicines that are used to help fight and treat the symptoms of ulcers in stomach. These drugs, when taken regularly, can stop the production of certain hormones, such as pancreatic enzymes which are responsible for the digestion of foods. When the stomach produces too many enzymes, this can result in a painful ulcer.

The first introduction of Peptic Ulcer Drugs was in the 1930s and it is still an important part of medical treatment today. Histological research on ulcers in patients who had undergone ulcer surgery showed that ulcers developed because of a reduced digestive system and inadequate absorption of nutrients in the intestines.

The first Peptic Ulcer Drugs, introduced in the United States were drugs which helped to improve the absorption and metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates in the bloodstream. Other Peptic Ulcer Drugs include drugs that reduce the inflammation of the lining of the stomach and lower the levels of certain enzymes which can cause ulcer growth.

The use of Peptic Ulcer Drugs also helps to reduce stomach acids which lead to ulcer pain, stomach cramps, gas, bloating, nausea, and vomiting. These medications can be taken by itself or in combination with other medications to help reduce the symptoms associated with Peptic Ulcer Disease.

Some of the Peptic Ulcer Drugs such as Tagamet, Clomid, and Reglan, are used in conjunction with certain other therapies, like a good diet and a healthy lifestyle. There are two types of Peptic Ulcer Drugs: Prednisone and Cisatrac. They can include short term and long term treatment.

Short-term medication should only be used for short periods of time because it can have some unpleasant side effects. This medication can also lead to a relapse of the disease once the dosage is discontinued.

Long term medication, like Tagamet, is best used when the disease has been left untreated and the patient has already healed itself. Long term use of Peptic Ulcer Drugs may even increase the risk of a relapse of the condition.

A country such as the U.S. is involved in continuous product innovation for effective treatment of peptic ulcers. For instance, recently Pharma major Strides Shasun has launched the ‘over the counter’ version of ulcer drug Ranitidine in 150 mg dosage in the US market.
